If your child bites their tongue lip or cheek and there is bleeding, we recommend the following steps:
- Apply firm but gentle pressure with gauze or a clean washcloth.
- Give your child Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) if needed.
- If bleeding does not stop within 20 minutes or it cannot be controlled by simple pressure, take your child to a hospital emergency room.
